Fun fact: Akire machinery does not use combustion engines (since using them on a water planet kind of ruins that). No, they use a combination of electric and magnetic fuel sources not unlike conventional batteries to power their machinery. Larger, more permanent structures use wind and wave-powered turbines to basically supply whatever energy needs is required, but things like vehicles and mass transit, etc. use ionized power cells - most notably, Aku'lae crystals, which (if you couldn't guess by now) give off POWERFUL electromagnetic fields when agitated. More on that later, though.
In fact, most large vessels are powered by Aku'lae cores, and even some weapon systems utilize said crystals for power.
